EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE SERVICES-CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFING |
When people experience a traumatic event (an injury, loss of a loved one or loss of property, a serious
threat, or any overwhelming emotional experience), the emotional aftershocks can be felt many days, weeks or months after
the experience has occurred. These emotional aftershocks are stress reactions and can occur at any time after a traumatic
event.
With understanding and support, people can work through these stress reactions more quickly. Your Employee Assistance
Service is trained in dealing with the aftermath of traumatic events that occur at the workplace.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing is a process where the people who experienced the trauma come together and discuss the experience.
The process is not therapy but strictly a sharing of experience with one another that result in a quicker recovery.
