GIRL POWER! / GUY TIME PROGRAM OVERVIEW & PHILOSOPHY
|
|
The Oakland Family Services' Girl Power! / Guy Time programs are an
empowerment and skill-building program to help girls and boys, from 5th -
8th grade, make healthy choices and build positive self-esteem. The 8-week
program includes topics that are chosen by the students with prevention
education as part of the curriculum. A community project, also chosen by the
group, is incorporated throughout the meetings and is performed at the end
of the session. Family nights provide parent/child interaction, as well as
parent education; and a graduation ceremony at the end of the group provides
a celebration of the child's accomplishments in the program. |
