WHO VOLUNTEERS AT OAKLAND FAMILY SERVICES?

  • People with a diversity of interests and desires.
  • People with talents and expertise, with education, employment and personal skills.
  • People just like yourself, busy people with families, careers and other responsibilities.

When you decide to volunteer for Oakland Family Services we will teach you, challenge you, and acquaint you with new experiences and ideas.  We will introduce you to new people, provide orientation, training and supervision.  But most of all, we will appreciate you for your generous contribution of time and talent for helping children and families in need.

OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER IN PROGRAMS:

Children’s Learning Center – assisting teachers in the classroom

Foster Care
– hosting and supervising children over a pizza dinner and activities while their foster parents are in trainings or support groups


NON-PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER:


There is no questioning the importance of program needs being met by our staff and volunteers.  However, our internal needs go deep as well.  Because of our devotion and time constraints, there is often not time to attend to the additional needs and/or requirements of staff, agency and ourselves.  We are looking for quality individuals who have an interest in one or more of the following non-program opportunities.

Computer/Technical Support

  • Increase staff knowledge of computer programs (trainings)
  • Problem solve technical issues 
  • Staff resource for Q & A
  • Web page creativity

Finance/Billing Administrative

  • Invoicing - one day per month
  • Filing - twice per month
  • General office assistance

Annual Events

  • Parent Awareness Fair
  • United Way Speakers Bureau
  • Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program (including but not limited to data entry)
  • Oakland Family Services’ Annual Report support
  • Preparation for Annual meetings

Support Services for Fundraising

  • Yearly United Way kick-off and celebration
  • Oakland Family Services’ Little League Baseball team jerseys
  • Sponsor Children’s Learning Center

Development

  • Community networking
  • Special Event Planning to benefit Oakland Family Services
  • Community Outreach Project

 Marketing

  • Assembling Marketing Packets
  • Laminating (Bookmarks)
  • Annual Mailings
  • Ongoing Marketing Projects

Buildings/Grounds Keeping Maintenance

  • Custodial
  • Spring/Fall Clean Up
  • Carpentry/Painting
  • Construction Skills – Agency Face Lifts
