For nearly three decades, Larry Gladchun demonstrated a long-term commitment to Oakland Family Services by spreading awareness about the agency's mission and building support for clients and families.

Larry was recognized for his commitment June 4 at the agency’s Celebration Event. The former, longtime board member received the Chairman’s Award, given annually since 2013 to honor outstanding volunteers.

During his time on the Board of Directors, Larry served as board chairman 1994-1996, was a member of the finance committee, led the board renewal task force, and provided numerous hours of consultation and expertise. He recently stepped down from the Board of Directors after 28 years of service.

“I came to regard my attending the finance committee, chaired by Larry Gladchun, as a master class in how to think about, conceptualize, and plan for the inevitable challenges in managing an organization,” said Michael Earl, former president and CEO at Oakland Family Services. “What I learned from Larry has benefited me both professionally and personally. For that I will be forever grateful.”

President and CEO Jaimie Clayton said Larry’s dedication to Oakland Family Services has helped impact the agency and community, building many brighter futures.

“Larry was very supportive of my becoming CEO from the start,” Clayton said. “He always had great and insightful questions but, most importantly, was always concerned that I was doing okay and was sure to ask how I was and if I needed any help. His impact will be felt for years to come.”
