Oakland Family Services is proud to be participating in United Way for Southeastern Michigan's 21-Day Equity Challenge!

The challenge runs from May 21 to June 18 and asks participants to explore how inequity plays a role in southeast Michigan’s social and economic landscape. Each weekday during the challenge, United Way will send participants an email prompt with articles, videos, charts and infographics on topics like:

  • Personal racial and social identity

  • Bias and privilege

  • Race relations in the history of metro Detroit

  • Racism and inequity in housing, health care and child care

  • Gender, LGBTQIA+ and disability inequity

  • How to be a better ally and develop racial equity.

The 21-Day Equity Challenge is free and open to anyone! Participants can expect to spend about 15 minutes per day engaging with the prompts.

United Way held a virtual kickoff event on May 21 and will also be hosting other live online events throughout the challenge:

  • Roundtable discussion | Friday, May 28, 12-1 p.m.

  • Roundtable discussion | Friday, June 4, 12-1 p.m.
