2025 Summer Camp at the Children’s Learning Center Lately

The Children’s Learning Center is buzzing with excitement as campers experience a full calendar of special guests and education; every day brings something new for our young campers to discover.

From the very first day, our staff has created a welcoming, nurturing environment that encourages kids to be curious, try new things, and form new friendships. Campers are quickly settling into a routine that balances structured learning with plenty of time to play, explore, and just be kids.

One of the most memorable parts of camp so far was the incredible variety of guest visitors who brought unique and enriching experiences to our classroom. A highlight for many was the visit from a Leader Dogs for the Blind trainer, who introduced the children to a seeing-eye dog in training. Campers learned how these dogs are trained to guide people who are visually impaired and how they make a difference in the lives of others.

Another exciting visit came from the Oakland County Sheriff's Department. Campers got to meet real-life sheriffs, ask questions, and even check out their official pickup trucks. The experience gave children a closer look at the people who help keep our community safe and helped foster a sense of respect and understanding for those in public service roles.

The fun continued with nature exploration. Jamie from Oakland County Parks brought an impressive display of animal pelts, antlers, petrified bugs, and other natural treasures. Campers got to see, touch, and learn about Michigan wildlife up close.

Throughout the summer, our campers have also engaged in a wide range of themed activities designed to support learning through play. They created bubbling, fizzing, and foaming science experiments that encouraged problem-solving and critical thinking. They stretched their bodies and minds through weekly yoga sessions that promoted calm, focus, and movement. They baked delicious treats, learning basic kitchen skills and the importance of following directions. And during one special day, they even learned the basics of martial arts, building confidence and coordination while having a blast.

Outdoor play is a daily favorite, giving children the chance to run, climb, build, and explore in the fresh air. Whether they are digging in the sandbox, exploring with water play, or sharing toys with friends, these unstructured moments encourage creativity, cooperation, and social development.

As summer winds down, we are filled with gratitude for all the laughter, learning, and love that filled our camp this season. Watching campers grow more independent, try new things, and make lasting friendships is a joy for every staff member involved.

We can’t wait to continue the fun and learning this fall! Enroll your child today at the Children’s Learning Center!
