Oakland Family Services is excited to introduce its new Early Childhood Parenting Resource Hub, a space where parents can find valuable information, activity ideas and more to promote optimal development during their children’s first years of life.

The new resource page covers many different topics for parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers, including developmental milestones, motor skill development, safe sleep, nutrition and feeding, potty training, behavior, social-emotional learning, speech development and more. It also shares information about upcoming Oakland Family Services playgroups and other early childhood events.

The page was created by the agency’s three home-visiting programs: Early On, Fussy Baby and Parents as Teachers. It will be updated regularly by early childhood professionals to help families stay in the know about age-appropriate ways to help their children’s bodies and brains grow.

“Providing easy access to relevant resources and information has always been a priority for our home-visiting programs, especially so throughout the transition to virtual services during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Toni Paramski, Early On lead evaluator/service coordinator. “The Early Childhood Parenting Resource Hub is a collection of resources our home visitors have found to be most useful in their work with children and families. It is a one-stop shop for families enrolled in our home-visiting programs who are looking for additional resources between visits, or for any parent or caregiver looking for ways to support their child's development."
