Change Grows Here: A Morning of Impact at Our Building Brighter Futures Breakfast
Oakland Family Services recently welcomed a room full of generosity, compassion, and shared purpose at our annual Building Brighter Futures Breakfast, held at the beautiful Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
With this year’s theme, Change Grows Here, the event served as a powerful reminder that meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation; it takes a community willing to show up, invest, and believe in brighter futures for children and families.
We are incredibly grateful to every donor, sponsor, and attendee who joined us. Because of your support, the event was not only a success but a deeply moving experience that will stay with us long after the morning concluded.
One of the most impactful moments came from Brian, who shared his heartfelt story about fostering and ultimately adopting his son Seth. His testimony was emotional, honest, and profoundly inspiring, offering a real glimpse into the life-changing impact of foster care and the importance of providing stable, loving homes. Stories like Brian and Seth’s are at the heart of what we do, and why we do it.
Attendees also heard from several leaders who help guide and support our mission. Board Chairman Jay Wachowicz reflected on the importance of community commitment, while President and CEO Jaimie Clayton spoke to the continued growth and vision of Oakland Family Services. Board member Guy Gordon shared thoughtful remarks that underscored the collective responsibility we all share in supporting families across our region.
Thanks to the generosity in the room, critical funds were raised to support Oakland Family Services programs, helping provide essential resources like foster care, adoption services, mental health support, and early childhood education. These funds directly impact the lives of individuals and families who need it most.
The Building Brighter Futures Breakfast was a meaningful reflection of what can happen when people come together with intention and heart. Change truly does grow here, and we are so thankful to have you as part of it.
If you were unable to attend or feel inspired to continue supporting this work, there is still time to give by donating online. Every contribution helps plant the seeds for stronger families and healthier communities.
