Specialized Services for Youth is a program for families with a child or teen, ages 6-21, suffering from severe emotional, behavioral or psychological stress.

Clients are youth who have difficulty managing their emotions and being able to express them appropriately. Most have experienced trauma and may be experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, trouble getting along with peers, difficulty following orders from parents and teachers, or behavior problems at school, home or in the community. Oakland Family Services offers a range of research-based practices that are proven effective for families and individuals.

Through Specialized Services for Youth, we provide individual, family and group counseling as well as case management, in-home services, peer and parent support, respite and psychiatric services. Parents or caregivers interested in having their child receive services from the agency must first contact Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN), which will determine eligibility. OCHN funds Specialized Services for Youth, which is provided by Oakland Family Services to youth with Medicaid insurance that is determined eligible by OCHN. Learn more about access, eligibility and screenings on OCHN's website. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency/crisis, contact Common Ground at 800.231.1127.
